Welcome to Christ Risen Lutheran Church! Divine Service is every Sunday @ 10:30 am. We are a confessional Lutheran congregation serving the communities of Kanata and Stittsville in Ottawa’s West End. We believe the Bible is the Word of God. We confess The Three Ecumenical Creeds: The Apostles’ Creed, Nicene Creed, and Athanasian Creed. We subscribe to the Book of Concord (1580). Christ Risen Lutheran Church is a member congregation of Lutheran Church—Canada. If you are visiting from a sister congregation and wish to receive communion, we ask that you kindly reach out beforehand to speak with our pastor. Guests may come for a blessing. For our first time visitors, our worship service follows an order of service laid out in our hymnal, the Lutheran Service Book. All are welcome.

The Church commemorates …

Cyril and Methodius on May 11th. The Lutheran Church – Missouri Synod document of Commemoration Biographies describe Cyril and Methodius as follows: Cyril (826-69) and Methodius (c. 815-85) were brothers who came from a Greek family in Thessalonica. The younger brother took the name “Cyril” when he became a monk in 868. After ordination, Cyril became librarian at the church of Holy Wisdom (Hagia Sophia) in Constantinople. In 862 the brothers were sent by the emperor as missionaries to what is now the Czech republic, where they taught in the native Slavic tongue. Cyril invented the alphabet today know today as “Cyrillic,” which provided a written language for the liturgy and Scriptures for the Slavic peoples. This use of the vernacular established an important principle for evangelical missions.
